UNDP Accelerator Lab is launching a contest for smart and creative inventions that can ease the burden of pandemic challenges in Georgia

April 20, 2021

What is it?

It’s a contest for solutions and/or inventions that come from people and can ease the burden of pandemic challenges in the following areas:

  • Business
  • Telecommuting
  • Education and training
  • Recreation and physical/mental health
  • Entertainment

Why participate?

We firmly believe that people who have encountered a particular problem often find smarter and easier ways to solve it. However, such solutions go unnoticed and are not shared with others who are struggling with a similar problem. Our competition aims to discover Georgian inventors and tell their stories widely to help others benefit from their inventions.

Who can participate?

The competition is open for individuals, initiative groups, community organizations, startups or small and medium entrepreneurs.

The consent of a parent or guardian is required for juniors under the age of 18.

What's the prize?

The prize fund is GEL 20,000. Winner or winners will be able to use this funding to improve their invention or purchase inventory for personal development. Top-ten inventions will receive certificates of participation.

What are the requirements?

Any invention can compete if it is:

  • Created in Georgia by individuals, a group of citizens, a community organization or a small and medium enterprise.
  • Already implemented in practice.
  • Relevant to the local context.
  • Environment-friendly.
  • Can be replicated, expanded or multiplied.

How will the winner be revealed?

The winner will be revealed by a competent jury, comprised of the UNDP Accelerator Lab members, Georgian inventors, startups and development experts. We will let you know who the jury members are in the coming weeks.
