The present publication reflects the outcomes of an investigation into the potential for existing and new finance instruments to generate sustainable income for protected areas with a particular focus on domestic non-tourism sources.

Descriptive designs have been provided for each of the finance instruments selected including next steps, options for piloting and other actions recommended for moving towards implementation. This information can serve as the basis for subsequent investment in piloting priority revenue-generating finance instruments.

The report was prepared by the independent consultants with the assistance from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Global Environmental Facility (GEF), Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF), Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia and the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia.
