Moving Forward to the European IntegrationMar 5, 2018
In 2018-2020, the Parliament of Georgia will increase efforts for Georgia’s European integration, especially in the areas outlined by the Association Agreement with the European Union.
The Action Plan, presented by the Parliament’s Committee on European Integration on 5 March 2018, describes the activities of the Committee in the coming three years and focuses on the increased efficiency in achieving strategic goals related to the Association Agenda.
The Action Plan is based on the Needs Assessment of the Parliament of Georgia in the process of Implementation of the EU Association Agreement, prepared last year with assistance from the European Union (EU) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The Parliament’s Committee on European Integration also presented a comprehensive account of its work in 2017 in the areas of law-making, oversight, parliamentary diplomacy, international and public relations.
Public presentation of the Committee’s past and future work was attended by representatives of the Parliament, civil society, diplomatic missions and international organizations.
Irakli Kobakhidze, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, and Tamar Khulordava, Chairperson of the European Integration Committee, opened the event with welcome remarks.
Carlo Natale, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to Georgia, and Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Deputy Head a.i. in Georgia, addressed the participants of the meeting.
The event was supported by the European Union (EU) and UNDP, under their larger initiative for strengthening parliamentary democracy in Georgia.Media contact
