My Environment in Borjomi

On Saturday, 7 June 2014, Borjomi celebrates World Environment Day.

Bicycle rally, open air exhibitions and youth actions goes on as part of the green campaign My Environment organised by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and the United Nations Development Programme.

 

Minister Khatuna Gogaladze, Head of UNDP – Niels Scott, representatives of the Agency for Protected Areas, National Forestry Agency, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Borjomi municipality attended the events throughout a day.

 

The guests visited the forest restoration works in the village Daba where the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, UNDP and the Government of Finland work together to bring back to life 60 ha of forest destroyed in the August 2008 conflict.

 

They also met representatives of the local governance, youth eco clubs and local residents, and took part in the bicycle rally in the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park.
