Europe Day in Georgia

8 May 2014. Tbilisi. The celebration of the Europe Day in the parliament of Georgia brought together politicians, civil society, international organizations and youth.

David Usupashvili, Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia; Ambassador Philip Dimitrov, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia; and Niels Scott, UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia, opened the event with welcome remarks.

The Chairperson of the Parliament awarded 14 winners of the essay contest for high school students – My Letter to Europe. David Usupashvili also presented a media campaign design to inform about the main elements of the Association Agreement between the European Union and Georgia. A series of TV adverts in Georgian, Abkhaz, Ossetian, Armenian and Azerbaijani languages will be posted to the parliament website and Facebook as well as broadcasted on the Georgian Public Broadcaster and regional televisions.

The Europe Day events are organised by the Parliament of Georgia with assistance from the European Union and UNDP.
